The Kientzler family has been growing vines for more than 5 generations in Ribeauvillé, Alsace and the surrounding areas. In1866, Dominique Alphonse Kientzler had inherited vines from his father and grandfather and in 1895 was involved in the creation of France’s first winemaking cooperative in Ribeauvillé, Grown at the foothills of the Vosges Mountains, the vineyards benefit from one of France’s driest climates, long sunny days and cool nights. These conditions allow grapes to ripen fully while retaining the acidity and freshness essential for high quality sparkling wine. Limestone and marl soils add finesse and a subtle mineral line. In the glass, the wine is pale and bright with a fine, persistent bead.

Aromas are fresh and slightly savoury. Green apple, pear and lemon zest lead, followed by hints of white flowers and a gentle brioche note from lees ageing. On the palate, the wine is crisp and well balanced. Citrus and orchard fruit flavours are carried by lively acidity and a smooth, creamy mousse. Lees ageing adds subtle savoury depth, notes of almond and biscuit emerging through the mid palate. The finish is dry, clean and refreshing, with good length and a lightly mineral edge.

100% Auxerrois, Alsace, France
