NV Champagne Laherte Frères Rosé de Meunier
Laherte Frères are based in Chavot, south of Ėpernay, alongside some holdings in the Côtes du Blancs. They farm organically across the board and biodynamically in some cases. Aurélien Laherte is currently at the helm as the seventh generation. While remaining true to the traditions set by his ancestors, Aurélien has modernised the label and is producing some of the best value Champagnes around.
Made from 30 year old Pinot Meunier grapes done three different ways, part just juice, part macerated for a period time, and part full red wine all fermented in oak barrels and aged on lees.
Pomegranate and cranberry form a tart red fruit profile, it’s ever so slightly jubey with plenty of chalk-like minerality and a touch of undergrowth to balance out the fruit profile.
