2021 Pressing Matters R139 Riesling 375ml

One of Tasmania’s finest winemakers, Samantha Connew is behind the winemaking wheel of Pressing Matters, with her own project Stargazer; she’s done stints in Oregon and New Zealand, and a decade at Wirra Wirra, which is no mean feat. This delicious sticky is made using the cane-cut method, where the grapes are left to shrivel on the vine after a well-placed cut is made, from this the water supply to the fruit is halted and concentrates the sugar within the berries. A must with cheese and muscatels, there’s a nose of intense lime, apricot, and honey. The palate is unctuous and concentrated, smoothly building up to a meridian of cumquat, marmalade, and preserved lime notes, acidity is soft and follows through the palate evenly.
