2017 Mordrelle Gran Reserva Chardonnay

Martin’s pulling fruit from Lenswood here, 2017 was a tricky vintage so he chose to hold back the release. He wanted to see how the wine had developed in the bottle. Very tense and austere on release with searing acid – so nice to see how it turned out.

The grapes were handpicked then whole-bunch pressed, fermented, and aged in French oak barrels for 22 months. It shows a soft golden colour with white peach floral aromas and flavours of green apples, honeycomb, truffles and brioche, finishing with a hint of savoury mineral notes.
