NV R. Pouillon Reserve Brut

To the east of Êpernay we have Mareuil-sur-Aÿ where R. Pouillon is based. Founded in 1947 by grandfather Roger Pouillon, this artisanal estate is now run by his grandson Fabrice. Back in 2019 we had the pleasure of meeting and tasting with Fabrice at the Shop, it was a truly outstanding tasting and we were blown away by the wines unique flavours and complexity. Fabrice is a wealth of knowledge and while they manage the vineyard quite traditionally he’s also not afraid to break away in order to better the wines. 

'A blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier from 5 different sites across the Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. The base of this wine is made up of 2015 and 2016 vintages with 20% reserve wine added from the solerra started in 2000.

Brine and bread dough, fresh strawberry and apple, nutty oxidative notes. It’s firm with a lemony tang, some chalk to the texure, brine and savoury flavours, intensity and plenty of zip through the finish. Complexity and energy.' - 94 Points Gary Walsh, Wine Front
