NV Pierre Gerbais Cuvée Réserve
The Pierre Gerbais label is a small family run estate based in the Côtes-des-Bar which is geographically closer to Burgundy than central Champagne. The Côtes-des-Bar is made up of clay and limestone rather than the chalky soil that makes up the majority of Champagne, resulting in wines that have a more salty, saline character. The Gerbais family own the largest portion of Pinot Blanc holdings in all of Champagne, they’re also the owners of the oldest plantings of Pinot Blanc in the region.
The Cuvée Réserve is made up of mostly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a small portion of Pinot Blanc added for lift and extra exuberance.
Generous and fruit forward, green apple and pear framed by mild toasty brioche notes. Elegant bubble and bright acidity, great as an aperitif.
