2020 Swinney Grenache
The Swinney family has been farming a whopping 6,500 acre property in Frankland River since 1922. However, it wasn’t until the 90’s that they decided to plant vines. They mostly planted cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and riesling along with a variety of others, including some bush vines of grenache, which were the first for the region. The family sold most of their fruit to local winemakers. And only in recent times have they been carefully, hand selecting the best fruit for their family label, Swinney. A darker, inkier expression than we might find in a McLaren Vale counterpart, but no less delicious. Earthy and savoury, with dark fruit and a medium body.
