2019 Deranged Vines Mansion on the Hill Shiraz

To learn more about the process of winemaking, five cousins got together to produce their own shiraz under the watchful eye of James Thomas, from Heroes Vineyard. The fruit comes from an organically farmed and dry grown site, Range Road Vineyard near the township of Bannockburn, which was planted in 1974 by their grandfather. One third of the fruit was destemmed, one third went through carbonic maceration and the other whole bunch fermentation before all being sent to old oak for ageing. The result is a beautifully layered cool climate shiraz with notes of black tea, blackberry and blueberry fruit and a little herbaceous stemmy character.
