Austria undoubtedly has a charming, picturesque and dramatic landscape and is home to a quickly evolving wine industry that is spread across a number of regions. Around the alpine peaks of the country’s northeast, riesling and grüner veltliner are famously grown. Further south-east, the region of Burgenland is home to a new wave of winemakers championing the native red varietals of Austria. Travelling even further south to Styria, you’ll find wine styles that bear more similarities to the wines of Slovenia and northern Italy.
