2018 Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock Shiraz/Cab Franc
~ Powerful & Individual Aussie Red
Giant in stature, fittingly down to earth, Ron Laughton is eminently likeable. Whilst doing a lot of driving as a food scientist in the dairy game, he started to make note of the red soil escarpments carved alongside the roads around this area. That curiosity led him to establish Jasper Hill with wife Elva.
Daughters Emily and Georgia are now well ensconced as part of the story, beyond the labels. Amongst beautiful bush landscapes, this Heathcote property is biodynamically farmed, allowing each vineyard’s sense of place to shine.
Produced from 40 year old, unirrigated shiraz and cabernet franc vines, fruit is hand selected and bottled on the estate.
Powerful and individual. Deeply coloured with a bouquet full of black fruit promise, partnered with perfumed mint. Multifaceted in its complexity. Spicy notes of cedar and clove at the forefront. Red and black berry fruits are swathed by perfectly balanced French oak and chalky tannins.
Fantastic paired with chargrilled Lamb chops, podded peas and pancetta.
