2019 Mac Forbes Hoddles Creek Chardonnay
Hoddles Creek vineyard, planted in 1981 and farmed by Mac Forbes Wines since 2011, is their highest site in the Upper Yarra sitting at an elevation of 270m. It is the only site on volcanic red soils which are very deep with high nutrient load. This small site has a gentle northerly aspect with two planting densities, giving extra complexity in management and at harvest. It sits in a slight arc and is protected by indigenous trees on three sides. These factors all contribute towards fruit which is more open in structure with exquisite line and purity.
‘This is a powerfully built chardonnay with austere fruit and loads of tension, let it open up and experience the raw energy of this wine as it unwinds down the palate.’ CWS Team
