2019 Vacheron Sancerre
The cousins behind Domaine Vacheron, Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique, consistently produce some of the finest expressions of this famous appellation. The estate’s calling card is a generous, textural white.
Much care and attention goes into this wine, with its intense layered flavours derived from 30-50 year old vines rooted in chalk and flint soils.
Warmer temperatures throughout the Loire in 2018 further amplify fleshiness here with ripe yellow peach, fresh pineapple and grapefruit. Savoury cap-gun smoke and a lovely briney acid line keep this focused in the glass.
Fusing Côte de Beaune presence with Chablis chalkiness and drive, this is elite Sancerre.
